The Evolution of Baking Wild
The journey to start blogging again with my new blog ‘Baking Wild’ after almost a year off has been an exercise in discovering what direction I really want to go. I love to write, share recipes and photographs and journal about this little place called Alaska. But it takes a lot of time and effort as well as passion. I had to take some time to really figure it all out. As John Steinbeck said,
Many a trip continues long after movement in time and space have ceased.
So I’ve said my farewell to ‘Into the Last Frontier’, and now I’m finally ready to move on.
When deciding on a new direction to take, I thought for a while I wanted to broaden my horizons and not blog about Alaska as much. But…who am I kidding, the Last Frontier is in my blood. It has to be an integral part of whatever I write about.
So I expanded my original concept of ‘Baking Wild’ and added Alaska to the name. It finally clicked, and I’ve found the passion and excitement it takes to really run a nice website. The slogan I chose is:
Get Outdoors, Eat Good Food…From Alaska with Love
And that pretty well sums up my take on how to enjoy life. Throw in bits of family and mid-life misadventures and it’s the perfect recipe for me.
So the focus of ‘Baking Wild, Alaska’ will be on rustic cooking using ingredients and methods that may be challenging like seafood, Dutch oven, smoking, grilling etc. and making it simple for anyone to do at home, around the campfire, and in some cases, the back country.
Along with that, Alaska is my favorite place on the planet. I don’t want to leave as it feels I’ve found the place we were always suppose to be. So count on continued images, resources and stories from the 49th state.
I hope you’ll come along…
With all the sites and media available, there’s so much to choose from. It’s overwhelming. But if your looking for a simple, uncluttered space with recipes, pictures (getting better at photography), and focus on family and an outdoor lifestyle; I promise, that’s what you’ll find here.
Thanks for stopping by, and hope you like the new space.
